For Christmas, Grandmommy and Granddaddy gave me a couple of Raffi CDs. We’re lucky because we haven’t scratched them yet. I’m sure we will though…oh well. But I’m getting myself all distracted. On one of the CDs, Raffi sings a song about going to the zoo. Guess what? Today, the song came true for Daddy and me when we went to the National Zoo!
If you haven’t noticed it yet, there is a new section in my sidebar at the right. It’s called Hear Me Chirp and it is the most recent posts from my Twitter feed. I’m quite proud of myself, I got a Twitter account before my dad did. (In fact, I still don’t think he has one yet!) Anyhow, I’ll start out the account of my day with a recap of all my tweets.
| 9:10 | Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, I am awake. |
| 9:36 | I ate breakfast out of the metal bowl that Mommy brought with her to America. It made me feel special. |
| 10:12 | I had three helpings of multi-grain cheerios this morning. |
| 10:42 | We’re off…to the zoo!!! I’m pretty whiney right now because Daddy wouldn’t give me my snack or lunch that we packed. |
| 11:08 | I’m clapping my mittened hands together and grinning as buses pass us by. We’re going to the zoo! |
| 12:03 | It’s been a while since I rode the Metro. This time everything was fine until we went underground. I wanted to get off at each stop. |
| 12:21 | Coming up on the escalator I met a really nice man. He said, “I ain’t no Michael Jackson…” Then he started to sing “A,B,C 1,2,3″ |
| 12:30 | First, I saw some cheetahs. Then, there was a man cutting down a tree. Now, I’m watching a Scimitar-horned Oryx have lunch. |
| 13:50 | We lunched on a park bench after seeing the elephants, balycara, and hippos. |
| 15:00 | A sleeping tiger, roaring lioness, and two playful lion cubs. Now it is seal time! |
| 15:20 | After a few minutes of watching blubber move through water, I couldn’t take it any longer. I dozed off with a graham cracker in hand. Bye zoo! |
| 16:03 | I woke up when the subway car came. On the train I met a nice little girl and her family. Her brother Isaiah is 1 like me. He can say Amen. |
| 16:26 | We walked (actually, I rolled and Daddy walked) passed the library. Why didn’t we go in? |
| 16:58 | Not the best day of my life, but it was definitely very good. We just got home safe and sound. I saw a kitty on the way; a lion is bigger. |
| 17:11 | While I got my diaper changed (it was only wet), I read a book. It was very interesting; the name — I Love Trains. |
| 18:06 | Daddy washed dishes and I took potatoes out of our bin and tried to get him to cook them. Finally he got the picture and gave me a pear. |
Thinking back over the day, what my comments don’t really capture is how much glee bubbled up in me. For example, usually when I go for a walk with Mommy or Daddy, we always need to be careful because cars might be coming. At the zoo, the place to walk is twice as big as a road AND there are no cars! I could walk wherever I wanted to…almost.
My day at the zoo is all over now, but if you want to remember me and all the fun I had, press the play button below and sing along!
Mummy’s takin’ us to the zoo tomorrow,
Zoo tomorrow, zoo tomorrow.
Mummy’s takin’ us to the zoo tomorrow
We can stay all day!
Chorus:
We’re goin’ to the zoo, zoo, zoo
How about you, you, you?
You can come too, too, too
We’re goin’ to the zoo, zoo, zoo.
Look at all the monkeys swingin’ in the trees,
Swingin’ in the trees, swingin’ in the trees,
Look at all the monkeys swingin’ in the trees,
We can stay all day!
[chorus]
Look at all the crocodiles swimmin’ in the water,
Swimmin’ in the water, swimmin’ in the water,
Look at all the crocodiles swimmin’ in the water,
We can stay all day!
[chorus]
Yes, Mummy’s takin’ us to the zoo tomorrow,
Zoo tomorrow, zoo tomorrow,
Mommy’s takin’ us to the zoo tomorrow
And we can stay all day.
